Who I Coach
International Professionals/ESL
If you're an international professional who struggles or feels embarrassed with gaps in your English writing, speaking, listening, or reading skills, I can help you develop more experience and confidence in your communication and fill in those gaps in the process. Over time, you'll gain more proficiency and confidence writing in English interacting with English speaking colleagues in professional and social settings.
High School Students
If your son or daughter is heading to college in the next two years and he or she struggles with academic writing--coming up with ideas, using examples, doing research, creating clarity, and editing grammar and formatting--I can help him or her gain confidence, experience, and understanding of academic writing, so they'll be prepared for English courses and excel at college writing.
College Students
If you're a college student who struggles with writing, I understand how scary it can be to look at a blank page with a deadline looming. Not sure where to start? Stuck in the middle of a project? Need someone to edit your final piece? I can help you brainstorm ideas, draft paragraphs, organize your thoughts clearly, research your topic, document your sources, and edit your work for clarity and cohesion.
International Students
If you're an international student writing papers in English, it's difficult to express ideas effectively in English. Do you have trouble finding the right words, spotting every grammar issue that might be challenging you (such as articles, prepositions, and verb tenses), and feeling confident about the clarity of your ideas? I can help you through the writing process either by coaching you through your project and giving feedback, or by looking over your final product and making corrections.
Academic Writers
If you're a graduate student or academic working on an academic project, it's easy to get bogged down in the process, look over your work so much it no longer makes sense, and want to give up altogether. The thesis, term paper, or article sits in a drawer for months, looming in the back of your mind. I've been there, having completed two graduate programs and one graduate thesis. I can help you get unstuck, create clarity in your message, and document and edit your work with precision.
Beginning Creative Writers
Creating something out of thin air from your mind to the page can be scary. It feels like you're looking over the edge of a cliff about to jump, or perhaps you feel like your work is crap. I've been there, and know how icky is feels to hate your own writing, or worse, hate yourself for not writing when it's your dream. With an MFA in creative writing, published works, and experience teaching beginning creative writing, I can help you get "unstuck," brainstorm ideas, refine your project, and creating a finished project ready for publication.
Bloggers and Book Writers
Coming up with material for a book or blog can be challenging. Am I getting my message to my audience? Am I addressing them based on my goals? Have I stated all my ideas effectively? Have I established credibility in my writing style? Will my message achieve its goal and convince my audience or sell my product? As your coach, I will help you answer "yes!" to all these questions and create a killer blog or book at any or all stages in your writing process.
Writers in the Workplace
If you've had colleagues criticize your writing or lost a job to someone else because of poor writing in a resume or cover letter, I know what the sting of disappointment feels like. I can help you in one of two ways, either coach you in workplace and business writing or help you revise a killer workplace project. Whether you need help with resumes, cover letters, emails, business letters, projects, or reports, I can help you create writing that will catch a colleague's, interviewer's, or client's eye.
